Aquatics Courses


Yearly Membership Fees:
$20 resident, $25 non-resident (individual).
$45 resident family, $54 non-resident (family).
Membership is good from September to July.

Season Pass:
Season pass fee (for adults only) is $110 and entitles swimmers to use the facility for all recreational and fitness swims September through July. Season pass holders must be members of the aquatic program.

Medical Cards: Cards must be completed and returned to the pool office before participating in any of the programs. A parent or guardian may complete children's medical cards. Please click the links below to complete the necessary medical card for the class you or your child(ren) registered for.
 
 

 
Aquatics Registration Reminder: Enrollment for any aquatic class (except Scuba and North Penn Aquatic Club) will be accepted at the IN-PERSON REGISTRATION on Thursday, September 6, 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the sports lobby of NPHS. There will be no refunds, only one-year credits.

Skills listed must be mastered before advancement to the next level.

Pre-beginner:
►rhythmical bobbing and exhaling
►back and prone float plus turn (unassisted)
►flutter kick - back and prone (20' with kick board)
 
Beginner:
►prone glide and kick
►back glide and kick
►over arm stroke breathing to side
►change of direction
 
Beginner I:
►prone glide and kick (25')
►sit dive, over arm stroke (50')

Beginner II:

AQ7  Adult Lap and Fitness Swim
Participants must be members of the Community Aquatic Program. This swim is open to the public and will be held each week, except on days when the school is closed for vacation, or emergency school closing. No pre-registration is necessary. Participants must be older than 15 years of age. Fitness swimming lanes will be provided for members. Multiple programs will be running concurrently. Memberships entitle each person to three free admissions.

AQ8
  Family Swims
Participants must be members of the Community Aquatic Program. Memberships entitle each person to three free admissions. This swim is open to the public and will be held every Friday evening except on days when the school is closed for vacation, or emergency school closing. No pre-registration is necessary. This program is recreational and no formal program is provided. This is an excellent time to bring in your children who are enrolled in the various instructional programs so they can practice their skills. Children under the age of 12 years must be accompanied by an adult. Children under the age of 6 must have an adult accompany the child IN THE WATER at all times.

AQ9   Five-Year-Old Learn To Swim
This course is designed specifically for water-adjusted children, who are five-years-old and in kindergarten, but do not meet the basic height requirements of the regular Learn-to-Swim program. The basic objective of this class is to prepare the youngsters for group lessons, and to teach pre-beginner skills of floating, kicking and breathing. Teacher-student ratio will be 1 to 2. LIMITED ENROLLMENT

AQ10  Adult Swimming Improvement
Designed for adults interested in learning how to swim or improve their swimming skills. Class will be held dependent upon number or registrations.

AQ11   Scuba
This course is designed to expose students to current knowledge and skills of scuba diving using National Association of Underwater Instruction (NAUI) course standards. Successful completion leads to a NAUI Open Water I certification. Participants must be at least 13 years old and have average swimming ability including survival floating.

Please note: Both of the classes below (AQ12 & AQ13) require that parents be prepared to swim as they will be in the water with their children. Swim diapers must be worn in the pool instead of regular, disposable diapers. Thank you.

AQ12  Tots Swimming Instruction
This program is for youngsters 1 to 3 years. Water adjustment will be taught through the use of songs and stunts. A teacher, from the deck, will direct parents in the water to lead their children through the various activities. Parents must be members of the Community Aquatic Program.

AQ13  Preschool Instruction
This program is for children ages 3 to 5 who have not yet entered first grade. This class will help prepare the children for our group lessons program held after school and on Saturday mornings. The program is designed to help the children learn to relax in the water, to have fun and to introduce basic swimming skills of floating and kicking. Songs, stunts and safety skills are taught to help develop water adjustment and confidence. A teacher, from the deck, will direct parents in the water to lead their children through various skills and aquatic games. Parents must be members of the Community Aquatic Program.

AQ14  Water Aerobics
Fun and fitness through water exercise. Ability to swim is not necessary. Exercises performed in 3.5-4 feet of water. Class includes warm-up, progressive aerobic exercises, resistive exercises to music and cool-down.

North Penn Aquatics Club
USA Swimming/Competitive Age Group Swimming and Diving Team
The team competes in the Suburban Aquatic League. The dual meet competitions are held on Saturdays beginning in November and ending with championships in February. During the swim season, optional invitational meets (SAL, USS) are available. New membership is restricted to athletes residing in the North Penn School District. New members are required to register in person. All new athletes will be required to take a skill assessment swim test; please come prepared with a swim suit, goggles and towel at registration. Lifeguard Training
Spring and Summer 2013
Call 215-368-3340 for more information. Registration begins in January 2013.
Participants must be 15 years old before the last scheduled class session. To participate in this course, you must be able to complete the following: 1) Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. You may swim front crawl, breast stroke or a combination of both. 2) Tread water for 2 minutes using legs only. 3) Complete a timed skilled event. Professional CPR/AED are taught as part of this course. All fees for manuals, materials and certifications are included in the course fee. Each class must have a minimum of 6 participants.
